Grace United Methodist Church (Brushes of Grace Art Workshops)
Learn the basics of watercolor, including supplies, materials, techniques, composition, and color theory. We'll take the mystery out of watercolor with this workshop and show you how to start painting.
Like any other skill, sketching can be learned, but it does require some basic understanding of the tools and the principles of drawing. We will explore the basic tools and the basic principles of sketching and drawing, including Line, Shape, Shading, and Perspective.
Art Journaling is a great way to express your own unique creativity. Art Journaling is a combination of painting, collage, drawing, writing, stamping, and stenciling that allows you to create your own art journal, a colorful and interesting place where art meets life.
Art Journaling is an extremely accessible form of creativity. There are no special tools required, materials are easy to get, and it can be enjoyed by people of any (or no) artistic skill level. And you don’t need a lot of time to start doing this.
• Explore various backgrounds using watercolor or acrylic paints.
• Learn to build on the background layer with interesting collage materials.
• Add more color and interest with acrylic paints, stencils, markers, etc.
• Add visual and textural elements like pockets, flaps, string.
In this course we will get you started on this Art Journaling habit. We’ll provide all the supplies and materials, but if you have old papers or clippings that you might want to incorporate into a page bring them along.
