Discover how a simple and inexpensive “Field Notes” notebook can become a deeply personal art object and tool for self-reflection. In this hands‑on mixed media workshop, you’ll learn how to quickly and easily transform blank pages into expressive, layered mini‑canvases using vintage ephemera, book pages, images, papers, textured scraps, and your own personal notations, quotes, or wisdom as the centerpiece of each spread.

We’ll explore techniques for:

- Building simple rich backgrounds with aged and visually interesting papers, or our own painted backgrounds we will create in the workshop  

- Creating visual harmony and thoughtful composition using collage and layering   

- Using personal journaling, memories, notes, quotes, and small written fragments of your life to add emotional depth  

- Combining text and texture so your words become part of the artwork  

- Developing a cohesive visual language across your notebook  

By the end, you’ll leave with a beautifully started Field Notes journal filled with meaningful pages—part sketchbook, part diary, part artifact of your own creative voice.
